Headshot or Personal Brand photography What’s the difference?

Should we have a wedding album?

Headshots are different from Personal Branding photographs. The difference is usually in the style of the photograph that has been created by the headshots photographer, and how the photograph will be used. A headshot is generally a more closely cropped photograph of just the person's head and shoulders, so the viewer cannot see much of the surroundings, so that they viewer's eye is less distracted by the surroundings of the subject, and the subject in the headshot is usually looking straight to camera so that the person's face is clear and easily visible. A headshot simply shows a viewer the person, and because it is often a close-up of just the head and shoulders, it shows less of the business environment and so does not tell much of the story of the business person being photographed.

A good way to describe the difference between a headshot and a personal brand photoshoot is if you think of the headshot as being similar to a handshake, it is a brief introduction to a business person, whereas the personal brand photoshoot (sometimes also known as Business Lifestyle photoshoot) is the full and interesting conversation that follows the handshake.

There is an important place for headshots, and I always include headshots within a personal brand photoshoot session, and most of my business owner clients, start out wanting a headshot, and then realise that to really help their potential customers get to know them and how they run their business, and how they can serve their customers, a Personal Branding photoshoot is by far the best option. The simple answer is because: after all the guests have gone home, presents have been opened, the flowers all faded, the cake all eaten, the booze has all been drunk, the dresses and suits all returned or folded away in their box, and your memories of the day may be a little fuzzy or have bits missing (depending on how much of the booze being drunk was personally down to you!), your photographs are really the only tangible thing left from your wedding day.

So, rather than your photos being hidden away on an old laptop, lost on a misplaced USB, or stuck up in the attic on an old laptop, why not have your favourite photos from your special day a little closer to hand, as prints, as fabulous art for your walls or in a beautifully designed story-telling wedding album?

Your album can be kept close by so that you can see and remember all the lovely events of your day, your photographs instantly bringing back lovely memories of the special moments of you amazing day, to treasure now and in the future.

I offer a full range of wedding album and wedding books, from the starter album, boxed with matching USB, to upgrades to fabulous Italian wedding albums through to awesome wall-art. So if you are looking for something special to reflect your amazing wedding day, like a beautifully designed wedding album or wedding story book, to keep and to hold from this day forward” - then I can help.

What if it rains?

This is UK and even in summer, we always need to prepare for the chance of a shower! We can’t always predict the weather, but please be assured that I will do my best to get you the photographs that you want throughout your day. Everything is flexible and we can swap things around to see if there is a break in the clouds later on. And even if the rain is non-stop all day, then I have lighting and top quality kit combined with excellent photography skills to shoot on the most greyest of days, or dimmest of interiors, and so can offer you fabulous couples portraits shots, and family photos, whether indoors or outside. And some of my other wedding couples most favourite photographs have been the ones skipping puddles or dancing with umbrellas!

Yes you can! I am a story-telling or documentary style photographer, so most of your photographs will be natural, candid photos that capture the story and the feel of your day, and if you want to make sure that you have some family or group photos too, then that will be great too! During the planning stage, we create a list of your top 5 or 10 most wanted groups, and I do my best to capture these for you wherever possible (time and conditions allowing). I suggest 5 to 10 groups as each photograph can take around 5 minutes to gather your loved ones, arrange everyone and photograph, so around 30 minutes for 5 or 5 group photos; and although I make the group photos as much fun as possible (fun always creates more natural looking photos) too many group photographs may leave you less time chatting and celebrating!
